Cebu Jeepney Number Codes and Routes

If it is your first time in Cebu City, you might wonder what are those numbers are for on top front and side of the jeepney.. that’s for jeepney routes actually. It is easy for someone to get lost if missed to ride a correct route. Even Cebuanos from remote towns who seldom visits the city can be lost, how much more for people not living in Cebu or just visiting Cebu from other countries?

Coding

This portion of the blog will give an idea what this codes means and their corresponding routes.

The jeepney code here is 12L and can be found visibly in front-top and both sides-left and right.

In addition to this indicator, there is a big mark indicating the route point names like Labangon-Ayala. Aside from it, in front of the driver, their is a small board flip each time where the jeepney headed into like Labangon-Ayala if it is going to Ayala and flip Ayala-Labangon when it’s headed back to Labangon.

The generic rule

There are two generic rules for the routes in Cebu. First, are those routes where it goes very same way to and from and the second one is those having two point, it passes through A when it is headed to its destination and passes through B when going back.

Also, here’s more comprehensive routes guides.

We’ll in Cebu.. you can always ask the driver (and jeepney conductor if there is, mostly are) for your exact destination. They can help if they’re familiar with the place and suggest a different code number if it’s not in their route.

Again be wary, have idea atleast of the place (and nearby place, landmark) where are you going.
