The Good Shepherd Garden in Banawa

Holy week, it’s the saddest moment in Christian history when Jesus was betrayed and crucified. It’s a week because of series of events starting Thursday called as Holy Thursday, followed by Good Friday, Black Saturday then the Ester Sunday.

On Good Friday people commemorate passion of the Cross and one venue is the Good Shepherd in Banawa Cebu City. Because the place wide and is sloppy, it is perfect place for the stations of the cross.

We don’t go there during the Good Friday because it is so crowded and people are everywhere. Instead we went there the following day, Saturday. (We’ve done our Friday obligations though is different way)

It is a narrow way and rough road from the main road in Elsalvador, Banawa but cars can pass through. It takes around 10-15 minutes ride to get there. When you reach the point you can see back of below picture. (This is taken in front from inside Gethsemany)

Below slides shows what’s near the entrance. The station of the cross are far from each other that you have to go through uphill and downhill. One of the slides with sculptures has one station at the background which when you look at, it’s far.

Nothing much special about the place except that it where the holy week is holistically celebrated.

(However very near to it is a church where you can feel the power of nature and solitude-up next. Also a short review of QPark in Danao Cebu-up next. Sorry guys haven’t got plenty of time to update the blog but will keep up. Thanks for always visiting our site.)
